2 December 2024 · 1 min read

On December 3, 2024, the GivingTuesday Portugal movement will be marked by a symbolic gesture of unity and solidarity, with the participation of three major Portuguese municipalities. The cities of Faro, Ponta Delgada and Funchal will light up iconic buildings in green and red, in a show of support for the global movement that celebrates and promotes generosity in all its forms.
At Faro City Hall, the façade of the Town Hall building will be lit in green and red, highlighting the city's commitment to valuing solidarity and mutual support.
At Ponta Delgada City Hall, the arcades of the buildings bordering Praça Gonçalo Velho Cabral will also receive the green and red lighting, reinforcing GivingTuesday's characteristic message of unity and sharing.Lastly, in the municipality of Funchal, the main façade of the Town Hall will likewise shine in green and red, symbolising the involvement of Madeira's capital in this movement, which encourages solidarity action at both local and global level. The symbolic lighting of these iconic landmarks serves as an invitation to the community to reflect on the impact of their acts of solidarity and the importance of contributing to causes that transform lives.
GivingTuesday, which began in 2012, is today a movement present in more than 90 countries, inspiring millions of people to give, collaborate and celebrate generosity. Under this year's motto, A Day to Give, we invite all citizens to join this movement, promoting actions with a positive impact, whether through donations, volunteering, sharing resources, or simple gestures that make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
