CINEANIMA brings three free animation programmes to higher education institutions

The 18th edition of CINANIMA at Universities is back this month, bringing to 18 Portuguese higher education institutions a showcase of the best in author animation cinema, with 26 animated short films.

This year, in addition to the traditional CINANIMA award-winners programme, featuring seven films that stood out at last year's Festival (among them, "Our Uniform" by Yegane Moghaddam, nominated for the 2024 Oscars), this initiative also offers two more short film programmes from two major European art schools: Tomas Bata University, in Zlín, and the Polytechnic University of Valencia.

The first screening kicked off on October 7th, at the University of Madeira, and will tour the following Universities through the end of the month: Instituto Politécnico Bragança, University of the Azores - Ponta Delgada, Horta and Angra do Heroísmo campuses, University of Beira Interior, Universidade Lusófona - Lisbon University Centre, University of Aveiro, University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, University of Algarve, Instituto Politécnico da Guarda, Instituto Politécnico Portalegre, University of Coimbra, University of Porto, Escola Superior de Arte e Design de Matosinhos, Escola Superior de Media Artes e Design, University of Minho – Guimarães and Braga campuses, Portuguese Catholic University of Porto, and Instituto Politécnico do Cávado e Ave. This initiative, which aims to spread and promote author animation cinema, is free and open to the entire academic community and general public.
